Corrections

We work hard to be accurate, but mistakes happen. When they do, we correct them promptly and transparently.

How to report an error

Email [email protected] with the subject line “Correction”, and include:

  • the link to the article;
  • the statement you believe is incorrect;
  • a source supporting the correction, if you have one.

We read every request and aim to respond within a few working days.

How we handle corrections

  • Factual errors — such as an incorrect figure, date, name or description of a finding — are corrected in the article, and a note at the end explains what was changed and when.
  • Significant errors that change the meaning of an article are corrected with a clearly visible note near the top of the article.
  • Minor fixes — typos, grammar or formatting that do not change meaning — may be made without a note.
  • Updates reflecting new developments, such as a newly published study or a revised mission date, are marked as updates rather than corrections.

We do not silently remove or rewrite substantive content. If an article is found to be fundamentally flawed, we will add an editor’s note explaining the problem rather than deleting it without explanation, except where removal is legally required.

Disagreements

If you disagree with how we have reported a scientific debate, we welcome evidence-based feedback. Disagreement is not always an error, but we will review the article against our Editorial Policy.
